Hola Beth - Holly Foy of Ancient Echoes here. We met during your wonderful show at the Acoustic Brew last month. Your wonderful bouzouki playing is still haunting me and I can't get it out of my mind! I have been looking to by one (or an octave mando) so let me know if you stumble upon any in your travels.....a searching mandocafe already. Thanks for the inspiration! Holly ~

Hiya Elfin Beth -- JR & I back in MN hoping you had safe homeward journey fm McPherson, too. HEDZUP: Expect contact soon from Liz Michaelson, dba Uncommon Gatherings. In addition to being all around wonderful person and longtime fair-whether friend, Liz is prime-mover diva re advising MN Fair board on procuring (plz, no smarty retorts) talent for the MN Scottish Fair & Games. As promised, I contacted Liz on your behalf (& will also be checking w/ Irish Fest organizers, et al, as discussed, or disgust, or whatever). Told Liz you'd be lots less expensive now than after you win the Grammy. Also, as threatened, I did pray for you at Mass yesterday morning. Sometime of a Sunday, if you'll attend Mass w/ ussins (JR, my Cathie & me), consecrated flour wafer & wine at Lord's Table, then I'll break down and treat you and ussins to a spaghetti liturgy at nearest Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill, unconsecrated flour pasta & wine. Is there any chance of you playing this weekend in NOLA? The concert dates section says you're only playing on Tuesdays...and my plane leaves on Tuesday afternoon! Great tragedy! A few friends of mine took me to see and meet you when I was in college (UNT Green Brigade for the Sun Belt Conference NO Bowl, hailing from Denton, TX at the time). This is the first time I've gotten to return to NOLA since Dec. 2004, I was so hoping to watch you perform again - you are a total joy to listen to! I have the first two CD's, which are WONDERFUL, but no substitute for a concert! ~

Hi Beth: Finally got ahold of 'Caught in the Act,' and really missing seeing you perform. My then boyfriend, now husband, and I had many fine dates attending your shows (and I always put you on the spot by requesting 'Devil and the Widow'). 'Microcosm' has been running through my head - wish I had the lyrics so I could figure out that first line. Any fans reading this want to clarify that ('When the _____ ____ ___ ___, the response never hesitates....'), please? Eagerly awaiting your next UK tour (gives her best kitten eyes). Take care and keep making great music! Love and Light, Kat ~

Hi Beth! It's been a long time, but my then-boyfriend (now hubby) Paul and I have seen you several times, in NOLA at O'Flaherty's and in Birmingham at the Moonlight Music Cafe. Since Katrina, we've been forced to get our fix just listening to your CDs, of which we have all three... We're finally getting back to NOLA the last week of July, and you don't have your schedule out that far yet for Yo Mama's. I see you've been playing there most every Tuesday and Wednesday night throughout May and June, so here's hoping...will you by chance be there on Tuesday July 29th??? We're bringing down a friend who has never seen you live, but has heard all my CDs, and we'd love to catch your show. I know you have the Dublin Irish Festival later that week, but I'm hoping you'll do your usual NOLA gig that night! -Gina and Paul ~

Hey, Beth-- We wanted to tell you about our favorite pub in Binghamton, NY that has been closed due to a fire for several years. It's just re-opened, and it's beautiful inside! If you are ever in the area, you would fit right in there. They are called G.Bailey's Irish Pub (after George Bailey from It's a Wonderful Life), and the owners are Billy and Rhonda Colban. Can't find the number off the top of my head, but I'll drop it to you when I do. They are having their grand opening tonight and my husband Doug is playing Irish music for it. You can tune your internet radio to STAR 105.7, Endicott, NY to listen in. We'd love to have you if you're in the area! ~

Hey Beth;
Just wanted to tell you how outstanding your show was (AGAIN) at Sean Kelly's on Oct. 16th. I hadn't seen you play live since O'Flaherty's(thank God for CD's) and you sound even better, if that's possible. I'm sorry you had trouble with the drunken knucklehead that night. Wish we could have been there earlier to escort him out. Hope to catch your Virginia show in a couple months!

Hey Beth. I just saw your show again at Sean Kelly's pub in New Orleans. You were great as usual. What is the name of the group and title of the song of the heavy metal song you converted into a ballad? You played it twice that night and I think it is one of your best songs. ~

Beth,
Just discovered you last night on itunes with some dumb luck. I am blown away to say the least. You are litterally an overnight favorite for me. Your voice is enchanting and you can play the crap out of that instrument. I watched a couple of tunes on youtube. I can't believe that it has taken three albums for me to find you. Now I am concerned about having missed you in Georgia. Have you ever been? Will you ever come? I don't see any hopeful tour dates. Atlanta of course would be a better venue for you, but because I am so directionally challanged, I would appreciate you doing a jam on Savannah's River Street. That would be too cool. There is always a big St. Patty celebration there in March...put that on your tour calendar! Plenty'O bars and nightlife there with a pleasent atmosphere.
Much Success, Take Care! ~

Wow Beth, never noticed that resemblance between you and Barbie. I think they owe you royalties. Anyway, I'm sure you heard about the A2 site closing. Would love to have a chat, and catch up on old times, so if you have a chance send me a line. ~

Hi Beth, discovered your music late last night quite by accident. I'm very impressed! You should bring your talent to England someday, we have plenty of folk festivals here that would appreciate it.

Hey Beth! It was great seeing you in New Orleans the other night. Glad I decided to check the pub and got to speak to you briefly. I dropped a note to Finnegan's asking them to please bring you back to Alexandria. Let's hope they get in touch soon and I get to see you there. Take care. By the way, how many people have commented about how fast your fingers are? ~

reminded you at FQF we had seen you at Fitzgerald's sidebar and with Poor Clares at Milwaukee Irishfest - now I see you are doing Elgin for St. Paddy's Day next - hope you will find something solo closer to central city - Fitzgerald's?, Schuba's?, house concert? See you then. ~

Hi Beth,
I just want to thank you for your wonderful music. Got your CDs from CD-Baby. As there is little chance to see you live in Germany (or is there a chance in the near future?) I'd like to ask you if there are plans to make a live DVD? Otherwise could you please offer some more videos on your site?
I wish you all the best

I really enjoyed your show in Lafayette.
You have a very unique style, evidenced\
not only by the instrument you play (very high wow factor), but also by the chord arrangements. You blew me away....
I am also a musician, bari/tenor/alto sax
+ keys, and have performed with:
Luther Kent, Rudy Richard, James Johnson,
John Lisi, and many other legendary LA
musicians.....
I'd like to put you in touch with a BR
music producer to get you booked into
the BR scene.
Please let me know if you are interested...
Keep your music flowin...

Beth, is there any chance you would want to live in a rural intentional community if you had to garden, build and cook a few days a week and could spend the rest of your time devoted to your music and anything else? I heard you today at the french quarter festival and liked it. Would love to have other musicians join us. ~

Hi Beth, it was truly a delight to bring my wife and good friends to see you play last night at Old Brogue! Everyone loved you, not only are you a fabulous musician, you are so bright and witty, it's hard to know which we enjoyed more, your music or your conversation at the mike. Hey Beth I keep running into people that know you here in Eureka Springs. We are really pumped that you will be here for the festival in January. If you are bringing some fans with you tell them to call in advance for rooms to stay in that weekend. I have arranged some great discounts for rooms. It is a full weekend and many places shut down in January so lodging needs to be arranged before they come or it could cost them more than usual.
Thanks,

My brother and I were just in New Orleans and we caught two of Beth's shows. She is just an incredible performer. We really enjoyed her music, wit, charm and smile. And those chocolate peanut give-aways were a bonus! Little did she know that my brother and I were in New Orleans to bury our brother who just tragicly died. Droping by and listening to Beth certainly helped my brother and I a lot and put a needed smile on our face when we really needed one.

BETH! You are truly awesome! We caught your gig at the Saline Celtic Fest. I was wondering if I could beg you to put a digital copy of your "Range Rover (Whatever, I'm Sure!)" song online for download. I'd be willing to pay for it singly, since you said it's not on any of your CD's. And I also wanted to recommend to you the Koronaburg Renaissance Festival in Corona, CA. It's a primarily a German fest, but it's about 45% Celtic. We worked there for 4 years, and it was the best time of our lives. In regards to Beth Patterson's phenomenal performance at Finnegan's Wake, Saturday, 20 May 2006...
First of all, Congratulations on your 20,000 CD sales (and all by yourself). We are very impresed!
Not only can you sing and play extremely well, but you can also tell wonderful, hilarious stories Both in your music and without. Maybe you should look into some sit-com or standup-com...
Anyway, keep up the wonderful work and talent. ...after the performance and hearing the CD, we want more! We hope to see you perform and purchase more CDs again very soon.
We do not care if you are going to hell or why... We are just happy you are "coming back"! Besides, your donkey is making waffles in the morning and ... didn't your nymphomaniac goat say, "...that is what we have the sheep for..."?

Hi Beth,
Glad you're coming back to Denver in July for the Colorado Irish Festival. It was there last summer when I first heard the strains of your blues-blazing bouzouki wafting on the hot summer barbeque breeze, and I was transfixed and transfigured (the beer was not to blame). Got my Trinity in December and my fingers have been flying ever since. Thank you! ~

Saw Beth play last night at Finnegans Wake. What a wonderful performance, great music and a true gift for comedy as well. I purchased your CD with Danse de Mardi Gras. I was totally impressed hearing this song played with Bouzouki and Ulliean Pipes. I played with, Bayou Jacque, a traditional Cajun band for four years. We played this song frequently and I always thought it had a definte haunting Celtic quality. Works wonderfully with your rendition.
Hope you play here again soon! ~

I caught Beth's act at Sean Kelly's this past Monday night and found her to be wonderfully entertaining! Sad and somber in one moment and laughing my ass off the next. ~

Hello Beth!
My girlfriend and I caught your performance last fall at the Celtic Festival in Monroe and have been wearing out your "Caught in the Act" cd ever since.
I see on the 'site they're planning a second festival this year. Any plans yet on if you will be taking the stage?
Hoping so.
Thanks for the music.

Beth: We're so accustomed to seeing you @ O'Flaherty's, it was a real treat to have you on our home turf for a change! Really enjoyed your set at the Side Bar @ Fitzgeralds, and we're definitely looking forward to catching up w/ you at Sean Kelly's the next time we're fortunate enough to come to NOLA. (Maybe we'll be able to talk Eric & Beth into coming with us!) ~
Karen , Chicago ~ 4/10/2006 2:40:49 PM
Beth -
I was travelling on business in New Orleans and saw back-to-back nights of your show at Sean Kelly's. I, and the two other guys I was travelling with, have not stopped raving about how alternately comical, soulful, insightful, outrageous, dynamic, outspoken, controversal and gut-splittingly hilarious you were. I am just sorry we were not able to stay longer or see your show for more nights. Should you come to Chicago again, you can bet we will be in the audience! ~
Bryen , Chicago ~ 3/26/2006 10:14:33 PM
What a joy it was to find your music! I share the same name and am delighted to share the same love for Irish Folk music. ~

Beth & Ron, Hope you guys had a good flight and wanted to say again how great it was to have you back to Elgin to open for Gaelic Storm. Do you have more info on your Berwyn gig on April 6? I Googled Fitzgeralds (mmm, prom night)but there were a few choices. ~
Butch , Elgin ~ 3/18/2006 6:28:22 PM
Beth,
Thankyou so much. You are amazing with you music. It was so nice to hear something different and so inspiring. I saw your performance on March 17, 2006 in Elgin, IL. I will be a forever fan. ~
Erin , IL ~ 3/18/2006 11:00:32 AM
Hi, Ryan. I run the Web site of the American Press in Lake Charles, La., where Danny O'Flaherty has been making some plans. Our site has the full story on the home page today. For the next week, the direct link to the story will be: http://www.americanpress.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1188&Itemid=53
Beth, I hope you'll consider coming over to Lake Charles sometime, once this gets going. I caught you at O'Flaherty's a couple of years ago, and was an instant fan. I'd love the chance to see you in my own stomping grounds. ~
Roger Demary , Lake Charles, La. area ~ 3/12/2006 2:24:12 AM
Hey Ryan...
O'Flaherty's pretty much took a beating from Katrina (some physical damage, but mostly an economic blow) that it couldn't withstand. I'm sad about this, too, but there is a new place called Sean Kelley's that opened last month (where I play Monday and Tuesdays). Danny O'Flaherty has been playing here and there for special concerts, and will probably be doing some occasion shows at Sean Kelly's as well. Nothing will ever be quite the same, of course, but we're rolling with the punches... ~
Beth Patterson , ~ 3/11/2006 12:34:38 PM
Does anybody know why O Flaherty's is closing forever? ~
Ryan Waldron , New Orleans ~ 3/11/2006 5:58:32 AM
Beth,
I saw you play at the North Texas Irish Festival and immediately went to the CD booth! I like your performance style of just having fun with the moment. I also wanted to say THANK YOU for your music...there's a healing quality to it and some good energy that you should be very proud of. Keep it up!

We see you are (re-)opening Sean Kelly's pub tonight. Is that O'Flaherty's, repackaged? We keep looking for information about favorite haunts that may or may not have survived. Hi Beth, we're very glad to hear you're okay. My husband and I use to watch your shows at O'Flaherty's often, we loved it! I'm so happy to see Goodbye My Old Friend on the newest album, I always use to ask Nick, my husband, to request it! I had finally heard Old McDonalds farm (your version) the last time we went to NO and saw you, same night as the Snow Patrol concert I think...
I went to NO for the first time since the hurricane this past weekend and upset to see O'Flaherty's empty and closed off, hope to see you again sometime and that things are going well for you! Best of luck. ~

Beth,
I was lucky enough to see you perform at the Shannon Pub just outside Buffalo, NY...even the satire brought out a little mist in me, remembering the sultry Monday's in that home we all miss dearly.
Thanks for coming this far north, and mentioning me as a fellow evacuee from the stage...that meant a great deal. I'll be back in the sleazy as soon as possible; we'll all rebuild, you'll keep playing, I'll keep drinking....
Thanks again for the little bit of sanity and I'm raising a glass as I just learned from Bill that O'Flaherty's is no more...

P.S. - That white, flaky stuff falling from the sky when you were up in Buffalo was actual snow...you've probably seen it in the movies ~

Beth,
I'm with the Coast Guard and spending time in New Orleans helping with the Katrina Response. After about ten 12 hour days in a row I ended up at the Kerry where you were playing. I must say that gave the best show I've seen in a long time. Your music is amazing and your show is a blast! Thanks for taking my mind off the task at hand here in N.O.! Maybe you'll come play in San Francisco so I can catch another show after I leave here.

I was reading your messages and I realize some things I took for granted. Simply going to O'Flaherty's on a monday or tuesday night. Free red beans and rice on monday, a beautiful folk musician playing on the stage and a GREAT atmosphere. I don't even know if O'Flaherty's is open now. :( I haven't been to town since the storm cuz it's depressing. The one thing I long for now is for things to get back to normal. I hope the days of you playing at O'flaherty's on a regular basis will happen again. ~

I work for the Corps of Engrs and spent Sep in the parishes around N.O. assessing land for trailers for displaced people. Hope I made a positive difference. N.O. will come back better then ever!

Sorry the Poor Clares are no longer together, but love your solo work too. Hybrid Vigor has given me lots of enjoyable driving pleasure! I look forward to more of your music. Hey, everybody...I just wanted to thank you all for your messages, calls, thoughts and prayers. Ron and I evacuated in an extreme hurry at about 3 AM on Sunday, and we are high and dry in Lafayete, LA. We are trying not to freak out, as we don't know the situation with our home, our studio, and many of our friends, since all lines of comunication are down right now out there. But we have good food and clean clothes, so we are luckier than most. I can't change my schedule online right now, but I guess I don't need to tell you that my New Orleans gigs are off. I can't send an e-newsletter right now, but I will keep you guys posted on everything as soon as I can.
My thanks to you all for your support...
Love,
Beth ~

I loved your show at the CO Irish Fest. We were talking about how you slipped a little ELP into "Ye Jacobites by Name" and various other songs that fit different tunes. Here's one popped into my head while doing dishes. "Raglan Road" sung to the tune of the Gilligans Theme. It works try it. You are incredibly talented and we just loved hearing you sing, and crack jokes. Please come back to Colorado. SOON!! ~

I recently (Very recently..just today..in fact) saw you at O'Flahertys and you were awesome! I bought one of your cds, and it's great so far.
I was wondering if its not too much trouble, if you could send me the full lyrics to your "we should worship the god elvis.." song. I can only remember a few lyrics.. something about satan looking like mariah carrey? and.. the muslim bit with the cat stevens lyrics? Yes. haha. It was great, i'd love to give my friends a laugh.
Thanks!
take care,

Hello Beth Patterson,
I am studying the Irish Octave/bouzouki and came across info about you when googling the sudject. It was a hop skip and a jump to blue man and then off to CD baby where I purchased "Caught.. & Hybria.." Your music is wonderful and I look forward to seeing and maybe meeting you someday. I am courious as to how you came to pick the bazouk as a main instrument. It is not all that common. Where, why, how, who did you study it? For the first several months I treated like a big mandolin, my first instrment of choice, until I finally found an instructor at an Irish session. Now I am nearly overwelmed with it's viralsitilility (is that a word? I think i'll leave it anyways), and practice it more than my mando. Any suggestions, ideas, music to track down to listen and study/EJOY? What are some of your favorite luthiers? I am currently playing a 10string Jimmy Moon. She is wonderful but is probably not my last or final choice. What do you play? Why?
I have never in all my years written to an artist before, but you standout as differant.
I look forward to a brief note if possible. Any info/suggestions you can pass my way would be recieved with gratitude.
Thank You
Best Regards,

Still bringing my girlfriend down to NOLA May 3-6th, and wanted to know if you're going to be at O'Flaherty's that week. Your show schedule doesn't say... Tupelo show is over, got home safe & sound about 2am..
Reaction to full frontal live show?
Kiddo's, watch the video's, buy the CD's, roadtrip to a show. you will not be disappointed.
The only warning sticker I'd put on the door of a venue.. expect a good abdominal workout from laughter, and drink with a straw. Spewing adult beverage on another attendee, a punchline hits is not very good manners.
Oh.. Beth.. London or the Moon.. "Like.. I get it now.. hehe"

Finally got my hands on "Caught in the Act" - Kickass!!! Especially love "Holier Than Thou" - my own path has been told to me many times, and whenever someone tells me I'm going there, I tell them "going - hell, I'm drivin the bus!!!" (and of course I registered drivinthebus.com for one of my personal websites). You may recall that my daughter (who now hums virtually every song from "Take Some Fire" and commandeers my CD player in the car, forcing me to listen to endless hours of that CD over and over and over and over - honestly, I'm sick of you (he said, tongue planted firmly in cheek while typing))... what was I saying? Oh yeah, my daughter also approves of the new CD, and naturally had to ask my what "Darlin' Please" was all about. Glad to finally get a taste of - but certainly not the TOTAL (not one reference to Warner Brothers or Monty Python, sigh) - live experience that is seeing you in person. Nice to hear a few familiar tunes I first heard at O'Flaherty's. Keep cranking the CDs out - I know you've got a plethora of material that needs to be put to disc. ~

You're an angel! Some friends of mine and I came to see you on Wednesday (before St. Patrick's Day) in O'Flaherty's... You might remember them- a handful of rather rowdy boys who came to see you last year, too, and requested some songs and bought a cd for Aaron, who's getting married and couldn't be there this year... Anyways, they had talked you up something fierce... and still didn't do you justice. I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your performance! It *made* our trip to New Orleans. :) ~

BETH! I soooo love the new CD. What an honor to be thanked by you. When we were tiny children, I knew you had musical talent, but I had no idea you were going to grow up and be so amazing. What a blessing to be able to do what you've always loved for a living. You're truly gifted and it's my honor to say we grew up together. I'm so proud of you - I brag about you all over the USA! ~

Have read CWG 1 and CWG 2 and have started CWG 3. Good to hear that your new CD is out. Will have to contact John about that. ~

Hi Beth, saw you for the first time at Enoch's on March 12. "Fantastic show" is the understatement that comes to mind! :-) I'm a guitar player that would love to learn bouzouki. Any thoughts on what make/model would serve well a dedicated beginner? Any other pointers for picking up such an instrument? Cheers, ~

You were here at the old Brogue on the 13th (i'm the chick with the green snakeskin combat boots) and it took me until now to post. I hate being this overwhelmingly busy. I have the french words to "Raisin" on the lyric sheet from "caught in the act" and can sing along with it just fine, but I have NO IDEA what I'm singing about. Can you help me please?
Thanks!

Wouldn't you like to come to Boston? :-)
http://www.clubpassim.org/ would probably love to have you-- conveniently located right in Harvard Square! Of course, there are more tourists than students wandering Harvard's grounds, and they take pictures of the squirrels. I kid you not-- it's really quite alarming. But anyway, Boston is a fabulous place with lots of places to hang out and eat and shop... c'mon, you know you want to... :-) ~

Beth, saw you in Great Falls yesterday afternoon, and you were brilliant as usual. (Like I said at the end of your show.) I was amazed to learn that you toured to places near me. You've always been one of those friends I've looked forward to seeing when I've visited New Orleans; I never miss you when I'm in town. Seeing you here in Virginia brought back a lot of memories of good times I've had there. Your CD has been on every long trip I've made over the last few years (like 20-hour drives to N.O.) and now that I know you get around (er... figuratively) I won't have to rely on it alone to get my 'fix'. ~

Beth, how refreshing your Balt gig was the other night. Tempted to try and hit the Rockville Md show on Monday and become a full-fledged "groupie." The music was great, and you were fun, just edgy enough, refreshing, energizing, and very, very entertaining! BTW, I heard there was a man who refused to wash his face for a month because he considered it a work of (your) art..... (evil smile) ~
MErb , Hyattsville, Maryland ~ 2/13/2005 11:31:46 PM
I saw you at The Old Brogue in Great Falls tonight and we had a great time. A friend of mine came along and she thought you were wonderful too. I especially loved "Goodbye, My Old Friend" and the many Monty Python references. I wish I could come out and see you at HMTrad tomorrow (I love that place), but it's a school night (bah). In any case, I'll definitely be looking forward to the Potomac Celtic Festival. Too bad I can't think of a way to end this post...oh well. ~

OH Beth...I'm so sad, I see you're playing at O'Flaherty's tonight and not back until 2/15...my husband and I leave for NO tomorrow and come back to yucky, snowy Buffalo on 2/15....we saw you back in May when we were there for our honeymoon. We've been looking forward to seeing you again on our next trip. Oh well, we plan on going to NO annually so hopefully we'll see ya next year. BTW...have a very Happy Birthday. ~

Hi Beth:
We really enjoyed your show this past week in New Orleans. We were the ones that liked the dirty/insulting songs and live in between Houston and Galveston. We look forward to hearing you again in the future. We will be sure to keep on the lookout for when you are playing in Houston. We come to New Orleans two to three times a year. We'll be sure to come hear you play again. Take care. ~

Thank you for the autographed CD's which John brought back for me. I've listened to and followed the words to your songs several times and I'm intrigued by the poetic beauty and the mystery of many of them. Now more than ever I'm really looking forward to seeing and hearing you in person at the ARK and meeting you for a couple or three at Connor O'neil's next door. ~

I saw Beth two years ago in Monroe, LA, in the company of her older bro. So when you gonna play in Southern California so I can hear you again? You should hear this lady play--its wonderful. Her CDs have become some of my listening staples along with that crazy group Gaelic Storm. ~

Saw Beth in New Orleans a few years ago. She seems to have been doing better now for herself. And she certainly deserves it. I was plesantly surprised to see her homepage when surfing the web. I saw her in the French Quarter in New Orleans in an Irish bar performing on her own. During the break I spoke to her and she comented on my silver accordion hanging on a chain around my neck. I asked if she could sing Dougie MaClean's song, Caledonia. And of course she knew it. She knows a wealth of songs indeed and performs them very well. I wish you well Beth if you are reading this and hope you rcareer really takes off.

You have to see her live and up close at O'Flaherty's in New Orleans - so many great songs that probably aren't "commercial" enough for a CD, but really work in that small solo setting. An entrancing stage presence when she's playing and singing - a mix of totally entertaining, wickedly funny storytelling and biographic ramblings in-between. And can that lady play the bouzoukis or what!! Is there going to be a live CD? I can't wait! ~

I was in LA Music Factory a year or so ago and by chance happened to listen to your CD. I fell in love immediatly with your music. After listening to the CD for months and yearning for a live performance, I was fortunate to have the chance to see you at Borders not long after. Unfortunately since then, your performance schedule hasn't met with my schedule until last Friday when I was lucky to find you in my little town of Covington @ St. Johns. I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know how much I appreciate your music and what you do. Come back soon! ~

On only our second trip to New Orleans, we brought a couple with us and talked them into going to O'Flaherty's, telling them on the way about a musician we heard there two years ago, and low and behold, not knowing you played there quite often, there was Beth! Couldn't believe it, they were as blown away as we were. Is it possible to book you for a performance? If so, would like to explore for a special event @ 1 year from now. ~

Take Some Fire has recently been my most listened to CD. I've been impressing a great many of my friends with it (and a lot of my friends are decent musicians themselves). The next time you come to Northern Virginia, a lot of recent converts will be there with me. A show of yours is always a treat. I'm hoping to catch you in New Orleans sometime this year as well. You truly have a gift, and I hope to be able to experience more of it. ~

Hi beth. I've seen you in New Orleans and of course have your CDs. I notice that you will be in Northern California in December. Any chance of a So. Cal. appearance? Say maybe Molly Malone's in LA, or Finn McCools in Santa Monica, or perhaps even The Harp in Orange County... ~

Hi Beth
Came across your name on a list of female bouzouki players, and eneded up on your site - we met a number of years ago in Miltown Malbay when I was hugely impressed by your bouzouki playing at some sessions we were both playing at. As a true-blue guitarist I was trying to dabble in some bouzouki at the time, and it was hearing you playing that convinced me to standardise on GDAD tuning.
I'm delighted to see that you are enjoying success in your music, you are a very special talent. ~
Mark Lysaght , Dublin, Ireland ~ 9/21/2004 5:37:04 AM
It was Saturday, Sept. 11th. I had never heard of Beth Patterson before, but a good friend of mine told me to go with her to see Beth play at Byrne's Pub. She had heard about Beth through her boyfriend, who just ranted and raved about her. From the moment I walked into the bar, I knew something special was going to happen. I was so entertained by the music, I never went back to get a second drink. I just stood and watched one of the most uplifing shows I have seen in many a year. I can't wait until the next show! Come back to Columbus soon, I'll be there. ~

We happened to stop by last Monday night at O'Flaherty's where Beth was performing, and enjoyed the performance so much we enjoyed it so much, we went back the following evening. I requested the saddest (and most beautiful)song, and my wife requested the "beastiality" song, which is a lot of fun, but now can no longer visit the wallaby exhibit at the local zoo! The CDs are great, but Beth is so much better LIVE, with the wonderful personality. Incredible talent, and hope to see again!!! One of the highest points of New Orleans! ~

And here's me thinking I'd stand out in such a loud crowd of admirers. My mates and I caught your show the day before St. Patty's at O'Flaherty's. To say we were blown away makes light of the nuclear blast, if ya catch the meanin'. My mate, Rob, grabbed a CD for me in exchange for a round of Guiness, and Beth kindly autographed it for me, even though I was a creepy guy in a new silly hat (which she complimented, by the by). Quick story of a "moment", if ye ken the meanin': Rob was getting the ale, my mate Josh was playin' darts, and I was sitting watching Beth play. Allofasudden (one word, that's how fast) I start hearing "The Lass of Aughrim" from that dulcet voice. To say my heart stopped for moment would not be medical fiction. She stole my breath, and ever since, I can still see that angel's face, eyes shut, spinning forth a melody so rapturous that I cried from the beauty of it. That's right, this man cried, and I not afraid to admit it, unless anyone I know reads this.
So, thanks lass. And, by the by, my friends and I play a game with a dungeon-like atmosphere and a dragon-y theme, and we've made a permanent singer for our main tavern on a likeness of Beth. So, now you know you've got the nerd vote. Sorry if that creeps you out!
Thank you from the crew at 313 in Stillwater. Cheers! ~

Caught Beth at my favorite spot in NO, O'Flaherty's, on 1 July. "Immediately enthralled" is the phrase that comes to mind. I was there with my 9-year-old daughter, who was equally entertained, and that's saying a lot. Any performer who can play the bouzouki, sing like a dream, produce her own CD artwork, as well as incorporate Kansas, Beavis, Monty Python, Elmer Fudd ("kill the wabbit, kill the wabbit"), and a plethora (just like using that word) of other obscure but important paraphernalia, deserves our undying worship and devotion. Buy everything in her store!!! Or at the very least, buy her CDs. ~
David Robert Wooten , Little Rock, Arkansas ~ 7/3/2004 10:50:15 PM
Caught your show at O'Flaherty's last Tuesday. Absolutely fantastic. Also bought one of your CDs. My husband and I were hoping some of the naughty ballads were on it. Too bad. Your really need to put out a CD of the spicy stuff. We will be catching your show in DC next month. We will be requesting Mardi Gras; can't wait to hear your version without the pipe. ~

Pure genius approach to Celtic music that combines the best of traditional with her own style that can't be matched. It is a pity that I make it to New Orleans every few years. Hopefully, Beth will make it to NoCal where I think she could get a huge following in the Bay Area.

hi beth....jim here (cindy & giselle's friend in Birmingham)....caught your show at the Moonlight last weekend, and was duly impressed on many levels--shees, writing/vocals/musicianship/comedy/etc....andextremely personable to boot!! a rare and much-appreciated mix, from which i am thankfully no longer in the dark! ron was also extremely gracious in his willingness to talk 'tech', so please thank him for me....hope you'll return soon.... ~

I was very impressed with your performance, Beth, last night. Sorry I didn't get a chance to talk to you afterwards.
My girlfriend and her parents are talented Irish fiddlers and are very involved with the music community in Washington State (their specialty is Cape Breton, if you're familiar with or interested). If you ever take a trip there, you've got friends. They'd love to jam out.
Email me about the tv opportunity. ~

Hi Beth! I heard you play last week at O"Flaherty's while consuming a couple pints. I really enjoyed your music and your sarcastic interaction with those fortunate enough to be in the room. I especially enjoyed your unique renditions of the "Rush" tunes, very creative. I purchased your CD and was looking forward to listening upon returning home, and went seaching immediately only to find it somehow did not make it....Fortunetly I was sober enough that night not only to make it back to my hotel, but also to remember your name! I searched the web and here you are. I now can re purchase your CD...I am so releived. I can sleep now.

Enjoyed seeing your performances twice in the last couple months when I was in New Orleans. Spoke with you during my last visit - asked when you are coming to Georgia. Mentioned a place in Decatur - but can't remember the name. Are you coming to GA? Can you give me the name of the place in Decature? I want to contact them to encourage them to bring you to GA. I will make sure we have a crowd of people there when you perform. Got both CD's - enjoy them both. ~

Ok, I give. Other people are suggesting venues. Here are two that dearly need your magic. Should Chattanooga ever come into your orbit, Durty Nellie's has live music and a lively crowd. Tell me you're coming, and I'll bring folk from fifty miles about. Nashville, too has a venue appropriate. Mulligan's Pub. Forget the Grand Ole Oprey, Mulligans is the only venue worthy.

Wow. Cool. A message board. Now what? Given no postings by Beth, I won't waste time telling her how great she is. After all, WE already know that. Once a year I drive from Knoxville, TN to 'Nawlins for, I confess, other reasons. But the whole schedule gets re-arranged once I find out when Beth is playing. God bless Danny for the Informer, and it's batter boards trod by the Enchantress. Every year the crowd I drag in there grows. I never have to encourage people to come listen.

Just found this website while drinking my coffee this am. Wow is all I can say. I knew some of the info but didn't know about your doing movie soundtracks. I guess I need to fuss at your Mom for not keeping me up to date. WHEN are you coming to Hawaii??
We are fine - enjoying being back on Oahu with more to do and getting to see more of kids and grandkids. We will celebrate our 5oth this summer when Allison is here although the date isn't until Dec.
We are very, very proud of you and love you

Beth-
My friends and I were lucky enough to see you perform at O’Flaherty’s on Feb 18th while we were in New Orleans on vacation. It was one of the most memorable parts of our trip. Your combination of great music, intelligent wit and comedy didn't fall on deaf ears. I loved your rendition of 'Wasted Years'. I listened to your cd's on my long drive back to Tennessee Saturday and enjoyed both of them thoroughly. If your ever in the area i'll definitely try to make it to your show. ~

Beth, your music is wonderful. I believe you have a beautiful voice and if you keep it up, you'll gain much more well deserved notoriety. I enjoy coming all the way from slidell to hear you play even though I have to go to work in the mornings. I look forward to hearing you play again. ~

I love your music, Beth! We caught you in New Orleans in May - was sort of looking for Valerie but we like you, too! p.s. Why do moon rocks taste better than earth rocks? Because they're a little meteor... ~

We really enjoyed the show on June 7th and we have enjoyed taking you home with us. The new CD is great. We went back on 6/8 and heard Danny in the concert room. He did the Garden Song for us. We told him that you didn't remember it. Sorry Kid, he ratted you out and said you did. Did you hear the one about the blond who.... ~

I love your music! Its sheer power reflects a very deep, intelligent, emotional, and passionate musician with an amazingly surreal yet sublime outlook on life's pains and pleasures. Words cannot describe how much I appreciate your music. I try to catch you at O'Flaherty's every chance I get. Your creativity is astounding, and I admire you and your work greatly. Take care and best wishes! ~

That was a great show at B&B last Friday. I thought I'd buy your CD and go downstairs to drum in the circle; but I couldn't tear myself away from the great music. You asked at one point whether you could get the drummers upstairs (out of the basement); we were already there but we left our drums elsewhere. Dang! That was my boy who asked you to tell blonde jokes. I like your new CD; "Take Some Fire" is really good; "Nemesis" gets my attention every time. good band! ~Bradley (y'all come now, ye'hear?) ~

Beth's show last month at the emerald mist was such a good time...Her enchanting music combined with her great sense of humor made for alot of fun...not to mention the lack of barrier that exists between musician and music lover really creates a casual open atmosphere which just adds to the overall enjoyment of her show...cant wait till the next time, and that new album!

Dear Beth and Ron, You brought me Joy! My husband Charles and I (the lady the likes to decorate houses) enjoyed meeting you both at Alan Petro's house this past Saturday. Have you ever crossed paths with someone and just knew instinctively that you should be the catalyst to connect that person with another individual? Jim is a geologist who lives downstairs from us on Marengo Street and plays the electrict accordian? (I think) he gave me one of his CD's for Christmas and it was really good. Would love to invite you and Ron to our next party. I wish you well. Best Regards Bonnie and Charles

I'm really sorry that we missed your show at the Emerald Mist in Richardson. My wife and I heard you play at O'Flaherty's in New Orleans before the Celtic Cruise 2000. As you requested We told the Blarney Brothers and Maggie Drennan than you sent your best. I heard Matt Williams from the Blarney Brothers sat in with you a little while you were here. I do hope you come back soon. We really enjoyed you in New Orleans. ~

USA - Sunday, October 07, 2001 at 10:03:16 (PDT)Beth Patterson is a goddess and should be worshipped as such!!! She explodes with virtuosity and a simultaneously raw and refined beauty. A polished diamond with pieses that are in the rough to keep her going with new and innovative sounds. I have only had the oppurtunity of meeting her and seeing her play once. But at times I am compelled to drive for days to catch another show of hers. ~
Greg Brostoski , Kansa City, MO ~ 8/14/2002 10:03:36 AM
I happened to catch Beth's show at O'Flaherty's on 7/24 and was blown away. As I said that night, I would have liked to stay and listen all night but I had to work the next morning. Let's get that next CD out. Your musical clock is ticking. ~

Was on vacation in New Orleans French Quarter behind O Flaherty's on 5/15/01, where my sister tracked down the whereabouts of a band called Wicked Tinkers at about 3:00p.m., who were on tv in the morning wearing quilts and gathering information of the famous haunting in the courtyard connected to O Flaherty's. After the American Queen Steamboat cruize, we came back to the area on the evening of 5/22/01 and heard Beth Patterson playing. Mom, sister Mary Sue, and friend, Josh sat down to hear Beth play. We were all amazed of her musical gift on the bouzouki and solo singing of Irish Folklore with or without the bouzouki. As Josh would say, "Beth Rocks!" Beth, thanks for signing your CDs' for us. Much talent! Come to Cleveland, Ohio to play near or at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I am positive that they would love some New Orleans flair- musical musician calling them for some gigs. Good Luck on your musical pilgrimage. ~

hey! my husband and I wondered into a irish pub in New Orleans one night and one of beth patterson's shows. It was the most fun we had in any of the bars in the town. We went back the next day to buy her CD. I just loved the atmosphere and the music--I felt like I was in Ireland. anyway, we'd love for her to come to Atlanta some time. there's a really popular Irish pub in Buckhead called Fadoe's (spelling might be wrong). I bet they'd love to have her! ~
